One month after arriving in the New World, 117 English colonists experience both joy and tragedy. The first English child is born in North America: Virginia Dare. Shortly thereafter, one of the colonists is murdered. Things go from bad to worse, as the colonists realize they must relocate or die.
Richard & Gary identify some of the people whose hopes and dreams were destroyed on Roanoke Island. The story is filled with pirates, possible sabotage, and a madman who ravaged the island two years before the colonists arrived.
